A full day is needed for visiting wineries in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, two of the most popular wine districts in the Cape.  The quality of the wine is excellent and all three wineries that we visited had something different to offer besides good wine.

Boschendal is one of the oldest wineries in Franschhoek with beautifully maintained  grounds and old Cape Dutch. Delheim. our second winery is a small family run business that has only been operating since the late 1940’s and is nestled in a small valley near Stellenbosch with views back towards Cape Town. The third winery was Tokara who have been making wines for 25 years and has a very modern tasting room with views over the valley and mountains and also has an amazing art collection both in the grounds and in the buildings.  Unfortunately for us we had spent too much time at the first two establishments and Tokara was unable to serve us due to the licencing laws but we were able to wonder around and take in the art and the views.
