Another sunny day today with a top temperature of 27 degrees.  This morning you can relax before leaving Forest Lodge around 11am for the drive to the Ngala Private Game Reserve within the Greater Kruger National Park.

For the next three nights you will be the guest of Ngala Lodge and on arrival you will meet your ranger who will be with you throughout your stay.  Your ranger and tracker will be your eyes and ears in the bush while they accompany you on all six game drives.   If conditions are favourable they will also arrange for a bush walk during your stay.

After check-in you can relax on your private balcony, walk down to the bar area and watch for animals coming to the waterhole or go for a swim.   Your first game drive will leave around 4pm and this is when the fun really starts.  You will need to bring your camera, a warm jacket and the binoculars that are in your room. You never know what you are going to find when you are out on the open vehicle but one thing is for certain, you will see wild animals in their natural environment during your stay.

The area around Ngala Private Reserve is famous for white lions and there are currently a male and female sub-adult within the pride which frequents this area.  White lions are the result of a recessive gene and are not albinos.  There are a number of books and movies documenting the white lions of Timbavati, which is the property adjacent to Ngala.

All sightings you have on your first afternoon drive will be special, be it Impala or Elephant, Zeebra or Leopard, all will remain in your memory.  As you stop for sundowners the sun will be setting on your first game drive and the sounds of the night will be calling.  What a memory!

Ndza khensa – thank you in Tsonga
