We also managed a full day to visit Cape Point and had a wonderful time as the weather was perfect enabling us to walk the boardwalk at Simons Town to see the penguins and to visit the Cape of Good Hope.

Our time in Cape Town was running out before we needed to drive to Paternoster our final stop of our South Africa tour but we did have time to visit one of the 150 plus gin distilleries in and around Cape Town.  We had our tasting at Cape Town Gin in Heritage Square and it was the perfect end to a perfect stay.  I have never done a gin tasting and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the gin and how the taste is altered considerably by the use of different tonic waters or the adding of different fruits or spices.  While I have always enjoyed a gin and tonic it has always been the standard Gordon’s and Schweppes but I am now converted to pink gin and rooibos gin.

Next stop Paternoster
