The small lodge at Fika Futi was originally a farm house but these days it is a small self-catering lodge that is the perfect place for anyone who puts game viewing over the comforts of a five-star lodge. There are no fences around the lodge and on any day you can have elephants, bush buck, nyala, warthog or any other animal come and visit while you are sitting on the verandah or cooling off in the pool. The lodge is far north near the Zimbabwe border and it is the most perfect place to relax and forget about the world. The pace of life here is that of a snail’s pace and while you are up early for a morning drive you have many hours in which to relax and do nothing.
The drive up here, which is about two hours from the border, saw us stopping for giraffe, zebra and impala, what a perfect way to start your bush holiday.
